LG Chem benefits from campaign
LG Chem Co., Korea`s largest chemicals maker, yesterday said it has realized 187.2 billion won ($181.9 million) in profit and savings from its six-sigma campaign, which began in 1999.
The six-sigma program was introduced for cost-cutting and quality-control reasons, company officials said.
LG Chem also named 30 teams for most effectively improving process lines or creating new technology. A 100 million won award was granted to the two groups with the highest scores.
About 500 executives including President No Ki-ho were present at the award ceremony.
This year, the chemicals maker began laying more emphasis on implementing the improvements via what it calls the "Tear Down & Redesign" campaign. (Jemmie@heraldm.com)
